shreyasi das

interdisciplinary visual artist

mixed media animation & textiles

I am Shreyasi* Das, an interdisciplinary mixed-media visual artist specializing in animation and fibre art. My experimental work gently weaves textiles, drawing, painting, found objects, and digital media to create tenderhearted visual poetry. Highly sensitive, neurodivergent, and invisibly disabled, I create work that embodies the quiet art of noticing and honours the healing rituals of slow craft and expressive arts. I follow intuitive, non-linear processes and predominantly use vintage, memory-soaked materials, allowing my work to unfold and guide me.

For the last decade, I have been working at Sony Pictures Imageworks as an award-winning Lighting and Look Development Artist for feature animation films. My recent work includes KPop Demon Hunters as well as, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Seabeast, and Over the Moon, which have been nominated for the Academy Awards, Visual Effects Society Awards, and Annie Awards. The next chapter in my career is in independent film production, studio arts, and therapeutic arts facilitation, challenging patriarchal and ableist structures within and beyond the animation industry. am currently working on an experimental series of short, mixed-media, frame-by-frame animations.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Animation and a minor in Writing Studies from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. I am one of the recipients of the 2025 Lenore G. Tawney Scholarship in craft and a member of Women In Animation, Artists In Montréal, Oh Hey Community, and Points Communs. I have been a mentor at Sony and have volunteered as a panelist and juror for various film festivals and animation societies in North America. I am based in Tiohtià:ke (colonially known as Montréal, Canada) and was raised in West Bengal, India.
